Housebeautiful.com: How did you get involved with this collection?
Brad Goreski: Color is something that's always around me, from my personal style to my work with Kate Spade New York. So working with the Post-it Brand to launch the Post-it Brand Colors of the World collection made a lot of sense for me. I'm all about making the world as colorful as possible, and this partnership is a great opportunity to do so.
Housebeautiful.com: What are your favorite color trends right now — both in fashion and decor? Which colors do you predict will be hot this Spring?
Right now I'm loving really bright and vibrant colors. For Spring, I'm thinking those same bold colors — lots of reds and blues.
Housebeautiful.com: What are your favorite colors to use when styling your clients?
I naturally gravitate toward bright colors, but some clients aren't as receptive to them as I am. Most people are worried about it not being complementary with their skin tone, but that's why I'm there — to make sure that the right color is ending up on the right girl. Most of the time jewel tones work well on every single skin tone, so we'll want use a lot of vibrant colors this season.
Housebeautiful.com: How do you incorporate color into your own home?
There are a number of easy and inexpensive ways to work the hottest colors, patterns, and styles into your home. I always start with accessories — whether they're for fashion or for your house.
Housebeautiful.com: How do you keep your home office organized, yet still personalized? What's a favorite thing you have on your desk?
My desk at home is fairly organized, but I do have little pops of color everywhere, for example, my agenda is bright orange. I also have a very busy brain and I have a lot of things going on, so Post-its have a perfect home on my desk to keep things in order. My favorite thing on my desk is a photo of me and my grandmother.
Housebeautiful.com: How would you describe your home decor style?
Our house is a traditional 1930s house, but the inside is very modern, so I like to mix the old with the new. I like the sound of the creaky floorboards and the old wrought iron stair railing, but we also have something contemporary, like Christian Lacroix furniture. My living room is the perfect example of using your decor to incorporate color, we have a black couch and two gray chairs with a crazy, colorful Paul Smith rug underneath. That's basically my entire personality in one room.
