Though the shoulder pads (and Blanche's hair) kept growing by the season, it's amazing how much of The Golden Girls withstands the test of time. The stories of friendship, relationships and family are absolutely timeless. And despite the occasional 1980s trend, we think their Miami, Florida, house also holds up. Here are just a few of the things we love about the place Blanche, Dorothy, Rose and Sophia called home.
1. The bamboo furniture in the living room
Nothing says "Florida" like bamboo furniture with pastel cushions.
2. The Chinese Chippendale chairs at the kitchen table
They nod to the living room's decor without repeating it and offer a sophisticated place to gossip over cheesecake. Similar versions are available at Ballard Designs and through Jonathan Adler.
3. Blanche's fabulous jungle-inspired bedroom
The wallpaper headboard perfectly matches the duvet. (Of course, Blanche would make that sentence into an entendre.)
4. All the tchotchkes on the kitchen walls
Though this is decidedly '80s, it takes us back to the kitchens of our parents — especially the copper baking molds.
5. Their adorable patio set
The floral metalwork adds a lovely touch to the lanai.
6. The detailed front door
We appreciate the oversized doorknob and the antiqued finish.
7. And, of course, the exterior
The spacious one-story home had a modest charm. This photo, taken by Flickr user Loren Javier, shows the real-life house used for exterior shots. It's located in Brentwood, California.
