While we always admired The Ricardos' apartment(s) on "I Love Lucy," we had never stopped to think about what Lucille Ball's real-life home might have looked like. That might be because she was just so great as Lucy Ricardo, we couldn't imagine her living any where else than the Upper East Side building owned by her friends, the Mertzes.

Fortunately, these vintage photos (taken in the 1950s through the early '60s) give us a great idea of her life behind the scenes. Which one is your favorite?

Acting and comedy weren't Ball's only creative pursuits. At home, she took up painting.

Even at home, Arnaz occasionally pulled a "Ricky" face.

Couples who work together often take their day jobs home, and Ball and Arnaz were no exception (or, the photographer wanted it to seem that way, at least).
