Look out, power brokers: There's a new "most expensive house in the nation," and this one's a stunner—the 25-acre, $195 million "Palazzo di Amore," located in Beverly Hills, is a Frankenstein's monster of luxury housing. Within the walls of the 53,000-square-foot, twelve-bedroom compound, you'll find everything you might need (or even just want). The entry is flanked by twin curved staircases; the 3,000-bottle wine cellar and tasting room features wines from the estate's own private label (grown on the terraced vineyards); the Turkish-style spa and baths feature floor-to-ceiling Moroccan tiles. Think that's boring? Maybe the discotheque (with a DJ booth, laser light system, and revolving dance floor), bowling alley, or 50-seat movie theater (complete with dressing room) are more your style. Either way, you'll never run out of things to do in the 15,000-square-foot "entertainment center," and there's plenty of room for your guests.
The Palazzo is the eight-year project of real estate investor Jeff Greene, who was married on the property (Mike Tyson served as best man). Construction completed just a few months ago, although the home has been rented to various Saudi royalty over the years—most recently, it was listed for $475,000 a month.
Greene admitted to the WSJ that developing and building the Palazzo was far more difficult than expected. "In hindsight, I never would have done this," he said. "Honestly, I didn't think it was going to be this much work." But just in case he needs to do some deep thinking about his choices, there's a 128-foot-long reflecting pool perfect for doing just that.
