Something Old, Something New
Heekin wanted the dining room to be "an assemblage of old and new that expresses the layers of time and living." She says of her and Barber's style: "We feel like part of our mission is about lifestyle — the Italian lifestyle — which encompasses food, wine, entertaining, the land, and indoor and outdoor living."

Garden Dining
The couple often entertain in their kitchen garden, between raised vegetable and flower beds Barber made out of red cedar from a garage they tore down. "We love the idea of the weekend country-house party in the European style, where everyone sits around the farmhouse table having long, leisurely meals, eating food made from the garden, and drinking interesting and honest wine."
