How the Queen Helped Prince William After Diana's Death

As England's longest reigning monarch, it's easy to forget that  holds another important title: loving grandmother. In addition to her many official duties, the 90-year-old has always made time to care for her grandchildren, especially after  in 1997.

In a touching tribute,  recently revealed how the helped him after losing his mother at 15. "She's been a very strong female influence," he says in the  documentary, The Queen at 90. "Having lost my mother at a young age, it's been particularly important to me that I've had somebody like the Queen to look up to and who's been there and who has understood some of the more complex issues when you lose a loved one... So she's been incredibly supportive and I've really appreciated her guidance."

The sweet interview celebrates the ruler's birthday today, April 21. And while Prince William is now a parent himself, the Queen is still just as devoted to her family. In a  for the occasion, she posed with her two youngest grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. How adorable!
