"Trash-the-Dress" Shoots Are a Rising Wedding Trend — But They're Not for Everyone

It definitely takes a brave bride to pull it off.

For most brides, the day after their wedding feels like a weight has been lifted off of their shoulders. It's finally time to enjoy married life and, well, loosen up a bit. And what better way to embrace this mentality than a totally liberating photoshoot? That's exactly why trash-the-dress sessions have become more and more popular over the past few years.

Now, this trend might not be for everyone. For instance, if you're a traditionalist and want to keep your dress for your daughter one day, we advise you skip. And depending on how much you spent on your dress, it might not be the best fit either. But if you are game, there's no denying the photos end up being totally beautiful.

Want to know more about your options? Well, water is the least damaging (though your gown still won't be the same afterwards) and is a totally adorable way to wrap up a destination beach wedding, if you ask us.

Or, if your hotel has a pool, that'll work too. It's just as fun, as proven by the smiles on this happy pair.

But of course, you can take it a step further if you're truly willing to toss your dress after the session. This bride and groom went mudding, which actually looks like a ton of (messy) fun.

4 years married today with this amazing specimen. Follows me everywhere no matter how far or how crazy the ideas are. Meanwhile these couples went for a much more colorful route. If your home is filled with bright color that pops, this is one way to help your wedding photos fit more seamlessly into your decor.

Know what's fun? Trashing stuff! Especially stuff that you spend a small fortune on to use for one day 😏 My wedding dress is shoved in a closet. I should probably do my own trash the dress session! Where's your wedding dress?

ever wonder what the hell is a "trash" the dress session? or you know what they are but wonder "why the hell would you even do it?" well if you head on over to the blog today you can read all about them and what I feel about them. including some pretty cool symbolism between this photo and Ashley's situation. <<<in the midst of the hands, the strong girl still stands>>>

You could also just pick your favorite color or accent hue and do the entire shoot in that shade. Clearly, the possibilities are endless. But most importantly: If you choose to embrace this trend, make sure you pick a location or method that shows off your personality as a couple. That way, you'll have fun doing it and the photos will speak for themselves.
