Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water ... HGTV has found a new way to lure you away from your rose gold flamingo float and back to your couch. The channel behind Fixer Upper and Property Brothers is piggybacking off of Shark Week's buzz, launching its own Beach Week series of programming.
Fittingly, Beach Week airs the week before Discovery Channel's famous string of shows — July 16-22, to be exact. That way, you can daydream about finally owning that vacation house in Mexico or California before HGTV's new sister network drops a special on serial killer sharks, or devil sharks, or sharks vs. alligators in a battle of deadliest water-dwelling beast (all actual shows that have aired in the past, mind you) to scare you from ever dipping a pinky toe in the water again.
HGTV has teased that Beach Week will feature new episodes of several popular shows, like House Hunters and Beachfront Bargain Hunt, all with a waterfront-property focus that'd make Jimmy Buffett jealous.
Here's exactly what you can expect:
- House Hunters — Monday through Friday at 10 p.m. ET/PT
- House Hunters International — Monday through Friday, 10:30 p.m. ET/PT
- Beachfront Bargain Hunt Renovation — Saturday, July 21, at 10 p.m. ET/PT
No reruns here: This episode focuses on a family that's trying to renovate a shabby spot in Pawleys Island, SC.
- Caribbean Life — Sunday, July 22 from 1-4 p.m. EST, with new shows at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. ET/PT
The daytime block features houses in St. Thomas, St. Croix, Grand Cayman, and the Dominican Republic, just to name a few spots. If you want all-new shows, you'll have to tune in at night, when the show explores Roatan and Bonaire.
- Beachfront Bargain Hunt — Sunday, July 22, from 4-9 p.m. ET/PT
Spoiler: Earlier episodes of BBH — which features the seemingly impossible search for affordable houses with shoreline views — will be reruns, with new ones airing at 8 p.m.
- Mexico Life — Sunday, July 22, at 10 and 10:30 p.m. ET/PT
These new episodes will feature families searching for their dream home in Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas.
The weeklong series of shows ends right as Shark Week kicks off on Sunday, July 22. Let's hope you've got plenty of space on your DVR for all this.
